2 times Oscar winner A.R Rahman was born into a middle-class Tamil Mudaliar family in Chennai city of Tamil Nadu. His childhood name was AS Dilip Kumar, which he later changed to A.V. R. Rahman. His father R.K. Shekhar was the operator and producer of Tamil and Malayalam films, as well as giving music to Malayali films. AR Rahman also inherited the art of music from his father.
That’s when A. R. Rahman was just 9 years old, when his father died, due to which financial crisis took place in his house. Somehow he started running his own house by renting his father’s instruments.
